Yes,
This is the final email from me regarding
our English 220: “Eyegiene” {or, An Introduction
to Literature} Permutations of Subjectivity in
the Televisual Age of Sex & Race”
As you know, we have already completed the
final challenge of the semester; that said, it is university
policy that Professors be available during their final
exam period and I am writing to let you know that
I am in my office, today WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 14, 2011.
At what time? The official final exam slot designated
us by the university:
Wednesday, Dec 14, from 1030-1230…
Sometime after 1pm today, I will release your final
grade to the class…
https://sunspot.sdsu.edu/portal
If it is not there right away, don’t freak out
and email me or the GTAs—it takes time
for the system to process uploads…
… BUT, let’s say the horrible happens and
you think your grade is in error!
Here’s what you do …
1. Assemble all your graded work into a portfolio—
make sure you arrange all of your returned, graded
assignments in chronological order.
2. Next, review your portfolio carefully and head to these
pages and carefully re-read them:
http://eyegiene.sdsu.edu/2011/fall/eyeLAWS.html
http://eyegiene.sdsu.edu/2011/fall/eyeHOME.html
Why? To ensure you have carefully studied how
your grade was determined.
3. So IF YOU STILL THINK WE MADE SOME KIND OF
AN ERROR, wait until Monday, Janurary 23, 2011.
On that date send me a formal email requesting
an appointment for review of your final grade.
send this email to: bnericci@mail.sdsu.edu
4. I will respond within a week and we will
schedule a meeting.
Remember, it is your RIGHT as a student to challenge
your grade if you feel we are in error—with 220 students
in the class, it is entirely possible (somewhat, as we
are super-careful) that we might have made an error.
I hope this class did something for you—taught you
something, gave you a new way to see literature and film.
I am a very lucky professor to have worked with such
a first-rate group of GTAS and undergraduates and
I thank those of you who made the class a key part
of your semester—your hard work is what made the
majority of the students SEE the value of fiction
in a new light. Without you knowing, you were an
aesthetic ambassador of sorts.
That’s it.
I will use the class email list from this class from time
to time to promote San Diego area cultural events, so if
you want OUT from these cultural studies spamblasts,
use this link: mailto:memo@sdsu.edu?subject=PARACHUTE
or just respond to this email with PARACHUTE in
the subject line.
If you enjoyed the class, do let the world know about it here:

As I have written before, my best students come to me
through word of mouth, so I appreciate the assist.
If the bizarre exploits of my book, Tex[t]-Mex mean
anything to you, you can follow its evolution here:
or on the FB here:

Some of you have actually asked what
I am teaching next semester; unfortunately,
I am only directing a senior/graduate seminar:
http://bit.ly/american_panopticons
If you are interested in graduate school
or law school and want to sit in on a seminar
during the Spring 2012 semester, don’t be
shy about dropping me an email with your
request.
And, of course, you’d be mad to miss out
on working with me and 20-30 crazy SDSU
students in London during the Olympic Summer
2012: join us here: http://malas.sdsu.edu/londonROCKS/
May your holiday season be filled with amazing
exploits, travel, and rare, chance eyegienic
encounters!
Cheers, your professor
Dr. William A. Nericcio
ps: if the links in this email are dead,
i will be posting an link-happy version
